Remote Lab

Remote Lab of Ghent Analysis and PDE Center in Armenia

Ghent Analysis and PDE Center opens its remote lab at the Yerevan State University in Armenia. This project is supported by the grants from the FAST Foundation as well as from the Ministry of Education, Science, and Culture of the Republic of Armenia

The establishment of such a large research group – practically the largest single research group in mathematical analysis in the entire region of Caucasus and the Middle East – is a substantial boost to Armenia’s aspirations to become an international scientific-technological hub. This small developing country has declared science and technology as its top priorities for development, and welcomes international researchers to contribute to its research community through such remote laboratory programmes. Our new remote laboratory in Armenia, tightly integrated with our vibrant centre in Ghent, will host mathematical research in modern directions and prepare high quality local specialists in Analysis and PDEs in Armenia, as well as disseminate cutting edge knowledge to the further mathematical community of the country.

Announcement 1 (UGent announcement)

Professor Michael Ruzhansky (Ghent University) will lead a new project in mathematical analysis as the principal investigator of a remote research lab hosted by Yerevan State University. This project has been made possible through an ADVANCE research grant, financed by the Foundation for Armenian Science and Technology.

The ADVANCE Research Grants set ground for development of scientific directions in STEM-related fields in Armenia. This pioneering platform invites distinguished scientists from all around the world to lead new teams comprised of ambitious Armenian researchers. The ADVANCE initiative, of which Professor Ruzhansky’s project is one of ten currently under way, aims to promote interdisciplinary connections and knowledge exchange among various research groups.

Announcement 2 (UGent announcement)

The Ghent Analysis and PDE Center of Ghent University  receives a second grant under the “Adjunct Research Professorship Program (Remote Lab) 2023-2028” from Armenia. Professor Michael Ruzhansky, serving as the Principal Investigator, spearheads the remote lab project hosted by Yerevan State University.

The topic of this research project is “Analysis on Groups and Applications,” marking the sole mathematics program to receive funding. This grant supplements the previously obtained ADVANCE Research Grant from the FAST Foundation, which was awarded for the project titled “Partial Differential Equations with Singularities” spanning from 2023 to 2027 (more details)

This latest grant injection enhances the scale of the remote lab in Armenia, now comprising a total of 14 team members, with a substantial financial backing of approximately 1,000,000 USD over the next 4-5 years. Noteworthy is the composition of the international research team deployed in Armenia, maintaining a balanced representation with 50% female and 50% male researchers.
