Today Feb. 9, 2024 is one of the special days in my life. I successfully defended my PhD dessertation at AAU. This will give me a chance to start a new chapter of life.

The Analysis & PDE (Partial Differential Equations) group at UGent has made remarkable strides over the past five years. Comprised of dedicated researchers and led by Prof Michael Ruzhansky, the group focuses on advancing the understanding and applications of analysis and PDEs in various fields. To streamline these activities, the Ghent Analysis & PDE Center was established in 2019. Before we go into the chronological description and details of the achievements over this 5-year period, we first present a general summary.
New book series: The new dedicated book series “Research Perspectives Ghent Analysis and PDE Center” was established by Birkhäuser/Springer, within their prominent series “Trends in Mathematics”. There are already 10 volumes accepted/scheduled to appear in this series
Conferences: organisation or scientific committee membership in over 20 conferences; organisation of 2 summer schools
Talks: over 500 talks given at our seminars and conferences
Website: our website analysis-pde.org has attracted over 122,000 hits since its launch 4.5 years ago in June 2019
Postdocs: altogether we had 31 postdoctoral scholars working at the centre during the 5-year period
Visitors: our centre hosted over 130 visitors during the 5-year period, many of whom came with their own funding
PhD students: 12 PhD students have defended their theses since 2019, with further 16 current PhD students, under the supervision of Michael Ruzhansky
Remote Lab: we have established the remote lab of our Ghent Analysis & PDE Center at the Yerevan State University in Armenia. The funding has been secured for the functioning of this external lab for the next 4-5 years

2019: Establishment and Initial Achievements
The year 2019 marked the first full year of the functioning of our Analysis & PDE group at UGent. Notable achievements during this period include:
Establishment: The Analysis & PDE Center was established thanks to the Odysseus Grant of €2.7M awarded to Michael Ruzhansky in 2018 and his subsequent move from Imperial College London to Ghent University at the end of 2018. The website analysis-pde.org of the centre was set up in June 2019.
Prizes/Awards and Grants: The group garnered several prestigious accolades, including the Ferran Sunyer i Balaguer Prize and the Marie Curie Project. Additionally, further grants were awarded, such as the London Mathematical Society Early Career Fellowship and the BOF starting grant.
Securing International Conferences: The group successfully secured the organization of significant international conferences, including the GF2020 International Conference on Generalized Functions, the 13th ISAAC Congress, and Computability in Europe 2021.
PhD Students: Twelve new PhD students commenced their research under the supervision of Michael Ruzhansky.

Description of the event
The theme of our Women in Mathematics Workshop centers around “Celebrating Diversity and Advancing Mathematical Frontiers.” Through this theme, we aim to spotlight the great contributions of women mathematicians across a spectrum of specialized fields, including partial differential equations, logic, combinatorics, analysis, graph theory, statistics, algebra, and geometry. By showcasing the remarkable diversity of talent among female researchers, we seek to inspire, empower, and foster a sense of inclusivity within the mathematical community.
The primary objective of our workshop is to provide a platform for accomplished female mathematicians to share their expertise and insights with a diverse audience. Through a series of 8 talks, we aim to make the cutting-edge research in various mathematical disciplines, accessible to all attendees, regardless of their specific areas of specialisation and of the stage of their careers. Additionally, there will be a talk by Prof. Colette Guillopé addressing the gender gap in STEM sciences.

1st Hong Kong Laureate Forum

We are glad to announce that Prof. Uwe Kähler has been awarded a prestigious FWO grant for a long-term visit to the Ghent Analysis & PDE Center in Belgium. This exciting opportunity will foster collaboration and knowledge exchange within the field of analysis and PDEs.
About Prof Uwe Kähler
His research interests revolve around various aspects of this field, including approximation of harmonic and monogenic functions. He delves into discrete function theories in higher dimensions and develops numerical methods based on these theories. Prof. Kähler also studies higher-dimensional analytic signals, specifically monogenic signals, and explores their applications. In addition, he conducts research on harmonic analysis over non-commutative structures. Through his work, Prof. Kähler significantly contributes to advancing our understanding of this complex mathematical realm. He is currently serving as the President of the International Society for Analysis, its Applications, and Computation (ISAAC).
Objectives of the Visit
During his visit, Prof Uwe Kähler aims to achieve the following objectives:
Collaborative Research: Prof Kähler will engage in collaborative research projects with members of the Ghent Analysis & PDE Center. Together, they will tackle important problems in mathematical analysis, pushing the boundaries of knowledge.

We are glad to share the interview with Charles Fefferman by Duván Cardona. Among several awards, Charlie Fefferman has been awarded the Fields Medal (1978), the Alan T. Waterman Award (1976), the Bergman Prize (1992), the Bôcher Memorial Prize (2008), the Wolf Prize (2017), and the BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Award (2021). In particular, he was awarded the Fields Medal in 1978 for his contributions to mathematical analysis.
